Winter Training Series III

The GPL concluded its 2009 Winter Desert Series on April 5th and 6th with a tournament sponsored by the Orange County Polo Club at its winter retreat at Oso Oro Ranch in Indio, California.

GPL members Rolf Johnson, Greg Wildman, Tom Landry competed as Team Maximus and Chip McKenney, playing on the OC Polo Team, competed against six polo teams that accepted the challenge of competing for the prestigious honors of being tournament victors. As an added bonus, GPL members Jack Hoffman and Dan Haynia from Sag Harbor, New York, took their spring break under the sunny and beautiful skies of the Coachella Valley for two days of polo. In the end, OC Polo and Washington Lettuce teams took the titles and the trophies.

During GPL Winter Desert Series 2009, 17 GPL members participated in the polo events including several developing riders for whom this was their first time playing on a grass field. The GPL is grateful to Heather Schuberth, GM of the Orange County Polo Club, for her coaching, organizational, inspirational and polo skills. A special thank you to the members of the Orange County Polo Club for their warm welcome and great sportsmanship.
